I always use it for my household chores. For example, my goal is to clean the bathroom every week. But if, for some reason, I do it 5 days later than planned, I don’t want the next one to be due in just 2 days (which would be the case with fixed deadlines).

In the meantime, I would suggest using a flexible recurring such as at least 1x per week or 3x per month.

Similar to what Anna already posted - it’s mostly for household and garden chores. But also a range of other things e.g. ordering dog food, filling pharmacy scripts etc. For example, maybe the dog food normally lasts around 10 weeks but we go on holidays for 2 weeks and put him in dog boarding. I want to be able to postpone the current task by 2 weeks, and then when I complete it, the next instance is created 10 weeks from the date of completion.

Another hypothetical example: Under my health insurance I might be able to claim for an eye test every 2 years. But I’m not going to get the test exactly on that day. So if I don’t get around to it until a couple of months later, if it’s a strict deadline, the following task will appear 2 months before I can actually claim another test.
